Ann,
Ever since I sampled a bite of
the VT Shortbread product I've been in love...
Since most of my family lives
on the West coast, I send them interesting Vermont
products each year to remind them that I am alive
and well. So, that first year I ordered several for
family in California, Oregon, Washington and Idaho,
thinking that I would have to find some other wonderful
VT food product the next year.
In the past, I would get a couple
of thank-yous for gifts, but that year everyone in
my family raved about the shortbread and were so impressed
that I knew the woman who made them. That was 6 years
ago and now when the box arrives with my return address
on it, my nieces and nephews try to open the box before
any adults see it.
My sister says it's a good thing
that she's home when the postman delivers the box
of gifts, otherwise she would probably never get a
bite. They've all stopped waiting for Christmas morning
to open the green box with checkered tissue paper.
Now, they just dive for the bottom of the box of gifts
to find the shortbread and start munching on the crisp,
buttery, delicate shortbread from Vermont Shortbread
Company.
And I must confess that I always
order a few extras for my freezer. They keep for a
while and I always have something special for impromptu
holiday guests! It was truly love at first bite and
I am pleased to say this is one love affair I plan
to continue.
